Our Trip-to-Krakow 2011

The Waterford Male Voice Choir visited Krakow, Poland between February 23rd. and 27th, 2011.

It was a memorable trip for us and we had many unforgetable experiences on our journey.Our trip was made more memorable thanks to the assistance,courtesy and kindness of our guide Gosia

Lubowicka. Huge planning  was undertaken by the committee on organising this special trip.
The highlights of our trip were :

• Joint Concert with Schola Cantorum Cracoviensi, alocal mixed choir
• Our visit to the Salt Mine in Wieliczka and performing in the main chapel underground.
• Our Visit to Auschwitz / Birkenau Camp
• Jim Casey plays O'Carolan as his person tribute to those who perished
• Our night at the Polish "Compendium Culinarium" Restaurant
• Singing the Mass in the new Cathedral of Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki

 Here is our it Itinerary for the visit :

Day 1 : WEDNESDAY 23RD FEBRUARY;

4.45 pm.                               Bus leaves from  The Cove, Tramore

7.30 pm (approx)               Arrival at Bewley’s Hotel, Swords     
                                              Early night as we had an early alarm call                   

Day 2  : THURSDAY 24TH FEBRUARY:

4.15 am.                               Early Morning Call

5.15 am.                               Arrival at Dublin Airport

7.00 am.                               Aer Lingus Flight No EI368 scheduled to depart Dublin

10.55 am.                             Arrival at Krakow Airport

11.45.am. .                          Book into hotel

4.00  pm.                             Three hour tour of Krakow

7.15 pm.                              Jewish Style Dinner in Ariel Restaurant, in the    Jewish Quarter with a concert of Klezmer music.

9.30 pm.                               Return to hotel by coach

10.30                                    IT’S BEEN A LONG DAY – AN EARLY NIGHT  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 3 : FRIDAY 25TH FEBRUARY

8.00 – 8.45 am.                  Buffet breakfast in Hotel

9.15 – 11.15 am.                Rehearsal in Hotel

11.30 am.                            Tour to Salt Mine in Wieliczka

                                              Singing 3 numbers in St. Kinga’s Chapel in Salt Mine

3.30 pm.                              Return from Salt Mine to Hotel                                  

6.00 pm                               Joint Concert with Schola Cantorum Cracoviensis                                                             

8.00 pm.                              Polish Style Dinner at Compendium Culinarium                 

10.00 pm.                           Sing Song Hotel

Day 4 : SATURDAY 26TH FEBRUARY

8.00 – 8.45am.                 Buffet breakfast in Hotel

9.00 am.                           Sightseeing at Auschwitz  / Birkenau.

2.00 pm. approx.             Return to Sanctuary of Divine Mercy

3.20 pm.                            Mass at Church of Divine Mercy

4.00pm approx.                Return by coach to the Old Town.

9.00 pm                             Return to Hotel for Farewell Sing Song

Day 5 : SUNDAY 27TH FEBRUARY

7.45 – 8.30 am                Buffet breakfast in Hotel, packing & preparation for departure.

9.00 am                            Coach departs for Airport.

11.40 am.                         Aer LIngus Flight No. EI369 departs Krakow

13.40 am                          Arrival at Dublin Airport

2.15 pm. approx.              Bus departs Dublin Airport

5.00 pm. approx.              Arrival back  at Tramore
